Shoot Ogawa Magic Lecture Tuesday Aug. 24, 2010 7 pm $25.00 Per Person Shoot Ogawa is literally a living legend in the magic community, one of the world's greatest modern magicians from Japan. Originally from Tokyo, he first began studying magic when he was 10 years old under the tutelage of Masahiro Yanagida, one of Japan's most popular and respected entertainers. Shoot first began turning heads at age 17 when he entered the Mid-West Magic Jubilee competition in the US, winning 1st place in the Stage Performance Category. This was the first of many 1st place awards he would soon claim, making a name for himself as well as heralding a renaissance to the art of modern magic from Japan. Shoot also began performing regularly on popular variety shows on Nippon TV, becoming a well known magician and entertainer while perfecting his stage presence. Fulfilling a lifelong dream to bring Japanese Style of Magic mainstream, Shoot moved to Hollywood, California in 2002, where he now performs regularly at the world famous Magic Castle and throughout the US. He is currently this year's 2009 Parlour Magician of the Year, his fourth Magician of the Year title from the Academy of Magical Arts (also 2002, 2006 and 2008) and current "MVP Award" winner from the FFFF convention (Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic) in 2007. In 2004, Lighthouse Magazine, one of the most popular Japanese publications, named Shoot Ogawa as one of the three best Japanese entertainers in America. He loves introducing his unique style and eye popping magic to the hard to impress public, converting a new generation of cynics into fans of magic. Magic Lecture Wednesday September 8, 2010 7 PM Jonathan Pendragon was twice awarded the Magician of the Year honor from the Academy of Magical Arts as will as the Performing Fellowship. He was granted the rank of Honorary Professional by the Magic Circle, an honor given to a select few such as Channing Pollack, Lance Burton and David Copperfield. Jonathan was also presented the Grand Prix Magique due Monte Carlo. He received the Louie and was twice voted Stage Magician of the Year at the Magic Castle. Jonathan Pendragon has performed at the Gala for a U.S. President three times, an honor accorded to only one other magician, David Copperfield. He has performed for the Queen of England, the Prince of Wales and the Royal Family of Monaco. Jonathan has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno several times. His television credits include specials on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX. In 1999 he received the Magician of the Year from the World Magic Awards on the Fox Family Channel. He starred on the British television series “The Best of Magic” and “Comedy Magic”. In 1993 he was the star of the most elaborate magic special ever filmed, Disney's Night of Magic. The multi-million dollar special was shot at Disneyland near Paris and was shown throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Jonathan's Las Vegas credits include performances in the main theaters of Caesars Palace, Flamingo, MGM Grand, Bally's and Planet Hollywood. He has performed with symphony orchestras performing magic to classical music. His theater credits include performances in the top theaters in America and Europe including the Kodak in Hollywood, the Palladium in London and the Olympia in Paris.
